Bessemer City Area Chamber of Commerce Scholarship of Excellence

The Bessemer City Area Chamber of Commerce will award a $1000 scholarship to one graduating senior student from Bessemer City High School, charter, or private high school located in Bessemer City interested in furthering their education.

Determination of Scholarship Recipient will be based on the following
criteria:

•  A sincere desire to enter an accredited college.
•  Scholastic aptitude (no testing will be required). Send a transcript of high school or college courses.
•  Financial need.
•  The application and all requested information MUST be given to the President or Chairman of the Scholarship Committee no later than April 15, 2024. In the event of multiple applicants, the Scholarship Committee of the Bessemer City Area Chamber of Commerce will select the winner. The Scholarship Committee will consist of at least four Chamber board members.

Scholarship Recipient must:

•  Use the scholarship within the current school year for tuition, books, and/or computer. Scholarship money for computer can only be used with approval from the Board, i.e., if books, tuition, etc. is all paid for then they would be eligible to use it for a computer.
•  Maintain a passing average.

Selection Process:

The Scholarship Committee of the Bessemer City Area Chamber of Commerce will select the winner. The scholarship will be presented during the Awards Day activities at Bessemer City High School, Charter, or private high school by the President of the Bessemer City Area Chamber. If President not available, the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee will present.

In order to receive funds, the scholarship winner must present to the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee an invoice/receipt from the College attending. The chairman will approve and send to the Treasurer of the Bessemer City Area Chamber to issue a check payable to the winner.
